Simone Ashley may be best known for her memorable roles in popular Netflix shows like Bridgerton and Sex Education, but now the actress is tackling one of cinema’s most prestigious genres: the romantic comedy. Inspired by the Australian film Five Blind Dates, Picture This centers around Ashley’s character, Pia, a photographer who would much rather focus on her career than her love life (or lack thereof). Unfortunately, her family does not share this sentiment and decides to set her up on a series of blind dates in the hopes that she’ll finally make a lasting love connection. Of course, that’s precisely when Pia’s ex, Charlie (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) just so happens to pop back into her life in the hopes of rekindling their relationship.

The project certainly seems to have the necessary ingredients to create the next great rom-com—an achievement of which there is no higher honor. Sure, there isn’t any Regency-era ballroom dancing or a nosy gossip columnist stirring the ton into a frenzy, but Ashley has proven herself to be quite captivating onscreen in pretty much everything she’s been in and is more than capable of holding her own. So if you’re craving a good love story, family meddling, and classic dating hijinks, take a shot (get it?) at Picture This.

As delicious as that movie theater popcorn is, I’m sorry to say that Picture This is not being released in theaters and went straight to streaming on Prime Video.
